WILLIAM EDWARD OUTLAND

   Suffolk, March 3 - William Edward Outland, son of the late Augustus and 
Martha Ballard Outland died at his home in Boaz, Isle of Wight County, Monday 
night in the 82d year of his age.  Mr. Outland  had been a resident of Isle of 
County during his lifetime and had lived for 53 years in the house in which he 
died.  He is survived by a son, G.C. Outland of Norfolk, two daughters, Mrs. 
B.R. Edwards and Mrs. J.B. Babb of Boaz, a brother, A.E. Outland; 12 
grandchildren, six nieces and four nephews and many relatives and friends.

   Funeral services were held at Western Branch Baptist Church of which Mrs. 
Outland had been a member for many years, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by 
the Rev. Sidney Cobb the pastor, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Sawyer of Norfolk. 
The hymns, "Face to Face," "Abide With Me," and "In the Sweet By and By" were 
sung by the choir.  Active pallbearers were Carlton Outland, Ralph Outland, 
J.E. Rhodes, Jr., I.J. West, P.B. Butler, C.W. Ellis, Esmond Ellis.  Burial 
was in the church cemetery.
