Oman, 89, Merchant Of Surry Buried Nov. 18 Robert Bennett Oman, 89, retired merchant of Surry County, died Wednesday morning, November 16, 1960, in the Obici Hospital at Suffolk after a long illness. A native of Isle of Wight County, he lived in Surry County for 45 years and had made his home in Smithfield with his niece, Mrs. V.S. Richardson Sr., for the last 14 years. He was a member of Bacon's Castle Baptist Church and formerly ran a general merchandise store in Surry County. He is survived by ten nieces and seven nephews. A funeral service was conducted in the Jones Funeral Home Friday, November 18th, at 2 P.M. by the Rev. John W. Gordon, pastor of Bacon's Castle Baptist Church, and the Rev. Clarence England, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, Smithfield. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery.
