Virginia Murphy Pittman 

  Mrs. Virginia (Morrison) Murphy Pittman, 82, died Monday, Dec. 10, in 
Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield. 

  Mrs. Pittman was a native of Isle of Wight County.  She was a homemaker and 
a member of Battery Park Baptist Church.  She was the daughter of the late 
Luther Michael Murphy and Ethel Chapman Murphy Wilson. 

  Survivors include her husband, A. Garner Pittman of Battoy Park; two 
daughters, Virginia Felts, and Diane P. Coombs, both of Smithfield; three 
sons, A. Sidney Pittman, M. Buddy Pittman, both of Battery Park, and A. 
Eugene Pittman of Portsmouth; two sisters, Margaret M. Harper of Swannona, 
North Carolina, and Emily M. Lyttle, of Black Mountain, North Carolina; nine 
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

  Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Riverview 
Church Cemetery, Rescue, officiated by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. 

  Memorial donations may be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, 
P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Virginia 23430, or Smithfield Volunteer Fire 
Department, P.O. Box 117, Smithfield, Virginia 23430. 

  Colonial Funeral Home handled arrangements.
