POOLE, 74, OF RUSHMERE WAS BURIED MAY 2ND Edwin Thomas Poole, 74, of Rushmere died early Tuesday morning, May 1st in the Marine Hospital, Norfolk after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, May 2, at 5 p.m. at the grave in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield, conducted by the Rev. E.W. Rawlings. Mr. Poole is survived by his wife, Grace Harrison Poole; two daughters, Mrs. R.B. Weller of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Thelma Pittman of Newport News; one son T.A. Poole, U.S. Coast Guardsmen; two sisters, Mrs. A.S. Barlow of Norfolk, and Mrs. W.H. McKimmie of Richmond; a brother, J.P. Poole of Norfolk and 5 grandchildren. The deceased was a native of Isle of Wight County and for the past twenty years has engaged in the mercantile business and operated the pleasure pier at Burwell's Bay. He was a member of the Bay View Methodist Church, Rushmere; and also a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges. Active pallbearers were H.H. Harrison, R.H. Harrison, J.C. Thomas; J.R. Wilson; E.W. Jones; J.W. Dashiell; C.H. Rose and J.B. Gale.
