EDWIN THOMAS POOLE 

EDWIN T. POOLE, 74, OF RUSHMERE WAS BURIED MAY 2ND 

  Edwin Thomas Poole, 74, of Rushmere died early Tuesday morning, May 1st 
in the Marine Hospital, Norfolk after a long illness.

  Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, May 2, at 5 p.m. 
at the grave in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield, conducted by the Rev. E.W. 
Rawlings.

  Mr. Poole is survived by his wife, Grace Harrison Poole; two daughters, 
Mrs. R.B. Weller of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Thelma Pittman of Newport News; 
one son T.A. Poole, U.S. Coast Guardsmen; two sisters, Mrs. A.S. Barlow of 
Norfolk, and Mrs. W.H. McKimmie of Richmond; a brother, J.P. Poole of 
Norfolk and 5 grandchildren.

  The deceased was a native of Isle of Wight County and for the past twenty 
years has engaged in the mercantile business and operated the pleasure pier 
at Burwell's Bay.

  He was a member of the Bay View Methodist Church, Rushmere; and also a 
member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges.

  Active pallbearers were H.H. Harrison, R.H. Harrison, J.C. Thomas; J.R. 
Wilson; E.W. Jones; J.W. Dashiell; C.H. Rose and J.B. Gale.
