JAMES WELLONS POWELL 

MR. JIM POWELL 

  Mr. Jim Powell departed this life on February 22.  He was confined to his 
bed about three weeks, but he bore his suffering with Christian faith.  He 
was a devoted husband and a true and loving father.  He was 68 years of age 
[sic*].  He leaves to mourn their loss a devoted wife and four sons, Mr. Mack 
Powell of Littletown [sic; Littleton], Mr. Charles Powell of Suffolk, Joe and 
Johnie Powell of Zuni; three sisters [sic; daughters], Mrs. Ida Rogers of 
Courtland, Mrs. Lillian Bunch of Franklin, and Mrs. Meadie Darden of Franklin, 
and one brother, Mr. Mills Powell of Ivor; 11 grandchildren and a host of 
other relatives and friends.  He was a deacon in Antioch Christian church for 
many years, and will be greatly missed in his home and in the community. 

  Funeral services were conducted at Antioch Christian Church on February 
24th, by his pastor, and Dr. Howard of Windsor.  The pallbearers were: Mr. 
Jasper Joyner, Lucir Roberson, Charlie Tomlin, Eddie Tomlin, Mack Uzzell, and 
Fletcher Turner.  The floral offering were many and beautiful.
