JOSEPH WESLEY POWELL 

J W Powell Funeral 
Will Be Held Today 

  Funeral services for the late Joseph Wesley Powell, 62 years old, a retired 
motorman of the Public Service Company, who died at his home near the car 
barns on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, will be held at 12 o'clock today 
from the undertaking parlors of R.H. Smith in Phoebus, conducted by the Rev. 
Jack W. Cunningham, pastor of the Church of Christ.  The remains will then be 
taken to Isle of Wight County, where burial will be made in the Antioch Church 
cemetery, preceded by services on the Antioch Church.  The pallbearers will be 
H.S. Towler, George Rogers, W.M. Hunsucker, R.J. Bell, B.R. Jones and F.C. 
Snoot. 

  The deceased was a native of Isle of Wight County but had made his home in 
this section of Virginia for many years.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. 
Florine Powell, and three children, George P. Powell, Mrs. J.W. Fowler of 
Hampton, and Mrs. David Fryer of Newport News; a sister,  Mrs. T.W. Holland, 
of Windsor, VA, and three grandchildren.
