Piland Buried Thursday Smithfield, April - Henry Quinton Piland, aged 73, died on Tuesday afternoon at his home in Isle of Wight after a long illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Piland, of Gates, N.C., but had spent most of his life in Isle of Wight. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pattie Allmond Piland; three daughters, Mrs. Rufus Darden, of Carrsville; Mrs. Herbert Johnson, of Nansemond County, and Mrs. Gurnie Eure, of Eure, N.C.; two sons, Roland Piland, of Holland, and George W. Piland, of Smithfield; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Boone and Mrs. Minnie Harrell, of Nansemond County, and Mrs. Sally Daughtie [sic; Doughtie], of Suffolk; three brothers, Joshua Piland, of Jessup, Ga., Pomp Piland, of Sunbury, N.C., and Bob Piland of Suffolk, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Uzzells Church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock and burial was in Uzzells Cemetery. His parents, George Washington & Harriett (LAWRENCE) PILAND, m. 7 Feb 1860 in Gates Co., NC.
