MARGARET ALBERTA SAUNDERS PERRY 

   A funeral service for Mrs. Alberta Saunders Perry, 81, of Rt. 2, Franklin, 
was held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr.

   Burial was in Beaver Dam Cemetery.

   A native of Chowan County, N.C., she resided in this area 30 years.

   She was the widow of John Richard Perry and a daughter of Henry and Mrs. 
Dora Forehand Saunders.*

   She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

   Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Carnell P. Overman, Gatesville, N.C., 
Mrs. Margaret P. Hofler, Hobbsville, N.C. and Mrs. Hazel P. Johnson, Franklin; 
four sons; Wayland A. Perry, Carrsville, William H. Perry and M/Sgt. Merrill 
S. Perry of Calif. and Alvah C. Perry of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas C. 
Bright, Norfolk and Mrs. R.H. Swann, Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 
seven great-grandchildren.

**Berta & her husband share a gravestone, which gives "Roberta S. PERRY."

*The family appears in the 1900 Census in Middle Twp., Chowan Co., NC - 
   Henry & Isadora both b. Nov 1861, m. 12 yrs, 5 of 6 children surviving. 
   Two doors up are Cornelius Forehand (b. Jan 1835) & wife Moniky (Jan '26), 
   m. 40 yrs, 2/4 children surviving, with 3 grandchildren. 

Berta's D.Cert. (71-025996) gives her mother as E. Virginia Forehand.
