He was the son of the late William Dorsey and Mrs. Charlotte Byrum Perry of Chowan County, N.C., and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Berta Saunders Perry; four sons, Wayland Perry of Tyner, N.C., William H. Perry, USN, of Valleys, Calif., and Merrill and Alvah Perry of Carrsville; three daughters, Mrs. Cornell Overman of Gatesville, N.C., Mrs. Margaret Hoffler of Hobbsville, N.C., and Mrs. Hazel Turner of Ocean View, Norfolk; a brother, Alfred Perry of Edenton, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Annie Leary of Tyner, N.C.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Beaver Dam Church, with the pastor, Rev. N.C. Clifton, officiating. Burial was in church cemetery, with the following acting as pallbearers: Paul S. Lowe, W.L. Bradshaw, Sr., Reuben Bittle, William Lee, Elvin H. Whitley, R.H. Rawls, James L. Bracey, and Paul Lankford. Honorary pallbearers were member of the Beaver Dam Men’s Bible Class.
