JOSEPHINE BLOUNT PIERCE, 88, BURIED MONDAY Mrs. Josephine Blount Pierce, 88, died at Riverside Hospital in Newport News Saturday a.m. after a short illness. A native of Bertie County, North Carolina, she has resided in Isle of Wight County for 60 years. She was a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband William Arthur Pierce of Isle of Wight County; three daughters, Mrs. J.H. Wilson of Smithfield; Miss Della Pierce of Newport News; Mrs. Harry Hahne of West Virginia; two sons, A. Rubydell Pierce of Smithfield; C.W. Pierce of Norfolk; one half-brother, R.L. Cooper of Norfolk, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Bullock Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. L.F. Paulette. Active pallbearers were E.H. Holland, James Wilson, Cecil Wilson, Ray Holleman, Jesse Barlow, John Edwards, John Crocker and James Jones. Josephine "Josie" (BLOUNT; Mrs. William A.)
