Raleigh Pierce Dead 

  Suffolk, Va., Sept. 23. - Raleigh Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Pierce of 
Zuni, Va., died today after a lingering illness of months at St. Andrew's 
hospital, in the twenty-eighth year of his age. 

  The body was sent to Zuni this afternoon.  The funeral services will be 
conducted from Antioch Christian church Wednesday at 3 o'clock.

Pierce 

  At St. Andrew's Hospital, Suffolk, Va., Sept 23rd., Mr. Raleigh Pierce, 
beloved son of Mr. G.W. Pierce of Zuni, Va., aged 28 years.  Leaves father, 
stepmother, one brother, one sister, and many friends.  The funeral 
services were conducted at Antioch church by the pastor and his remains 
were laid to rest in the church cemetery.

The 1900 Census - Hardy Dist., Isle of Wight Co. - gives b. Jul 1885. 

His mother, Nora E. (JOHNSON) PIERCE, d. 15 Jul 1889, age 22, of "Child Bed." 
   Her infant daughter d. 9 Aug 1889, age 1 mo., 4 days, of unknown cause. 
   Coincidentally, his step-mother's first husband, George W. WHITEHEAD, 47, 
   also d. 15 Jul 1889, of Consumption.
