THOMAS KING PURDIE 

THOMAS K. PURDIE, 85, DIES IN ISLE OF WIGHT 

  Thomas K. Purdie, aged 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.W. 
Horne, near Smithfield, Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock.

  Mr. Purdie is survived by his widow, Mrs. M. J. Purdie and six children, 
Mrs. J.T. Mann of Petersburg; Mrs. A.W. Horne of Smithfield; the Rev. W.T. 
Purdie of Petersburg; and L. J. Purdie of Smithfield; also eleven 
grandchildren and a brother, George R. Purdie of Newport News.

  Funeral services for Mr. Purdie were held at Whitehead's Grove Baptist 
Church last Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.  The rites were conducted by 
the Rev. T.W. Page.
