Rites For Chuckatuck Man's Brother 

  OLD FORT, N. C. - Funeral services were held here Friday for Fletcher F.J. 
[sic; J.] Pruden, 79, brother of Clifton Pruden of Chuckatuck, Va., who died 
Tuesday in the U.S. Veterans' Hospital at Oteen after an illness of two years. 

  Mr. Pruden served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1910 to 1913, and came here 
in 1916 with the Southern Railway to help repair flood damage that year.  He 
remained in the area and followed the painters' trade, and for the last 
several years was employed by the Southern Baptist Assembly at Ridgecrest. 

  Surviving beside the brother are the widow, Mrs. Connie Rayfield Pruden; a 
son, Joe, and two daughters, Mrs. J.A. Grindstaff and Mrs. Troy Kelly, all of 
Old Fort; another brother, Colona Pruden of Norfolk, Va., a sister, Mrs. T.C. 
Eley of Portsmouth, Va., and seven grandchildren.

D.Cert. 27218 gives son of Henry & Minnie (VAUGHN) PRUDEN; buried in 
   Old Fort Church of God Cemetery. 

His brother Clifton Thomas PRUDEN (1888 - 1965) is buried in 
   Newman Memorial Cemetery, Oakland Christian Church, Chuckatuck. 

Their parents, Henry & "Annie" Anna J. (VAUGHN) PRUDEN, 
   are buried in Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
