Catherine Uzzell Rife 

  Catherine Uzzell Rife, age 81, of 904 South Church Street, died Thursday, 
Sept. 7, 1995. 

  She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a housewife.  She was a member 
of Smithfield Baptist Church. 

  Survivors include a daughter, Clara R. Lokken of Smithfield and a 
granddaughter. 

  She was the widow of Percy Scott Rife.  She was the daughter of the late 
Ocie O. [sic; J.*] and Clara Bland Uzzell.

  A graveside service was held Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's 
Memorial Park with the Rev. Donald Rhoton officiating.  The family suggests 
memorial contributions be made to Smithfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 
100 Wainwrlght Drive, Smithfield, Va. 23430.

Her father's name usually appears as Ocie J., but occasionally as Ocie O. 

Her parents and brothers Ocie Otney, Melvin McNeer & William Jackson "Jack" 
   UZZELL are buried in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Their brother Letcher Thomas UZZELL, Sr., is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, 
   Newport News.

Catherine & Percy m. 24 Dec 1934 in Smithfield. 

Percy was charged with DUI & manslaughter after the death of his passenger 
   Linwood Hamblin EDWARDS, Jr., fatally injured in a crash, 20 Oct 1935,
