Raby WINDSOR - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmina M. Raby were conducted Friday afternoon at the Windsor Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. William A. Grissom, pastor, and the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb. Burial was in the Windsor Cemetery. Mrs. Foy Gwaltney sang "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Homer Whitley. The casket was covered with a pall of white stock, white chrysanthemums and yellow roses. Pallbearers were Watkins Rhodes, S.C. Watkins, William Watkins, E.R. Laine, E.R. Laine, Jr., Thomas Gwaltney and Robert R. Lewis. Her parents, Mills Leroy & Louisianna (PIERCE) WATKINS, are also buried there. D.Cert. 31826 (Windsor #20) Elmina & Dr. RABY (1863 - 1923) m. 3 Nov 1908 in Windsor. Her father (1842 - 1921) was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. D, 16th VA Infantry. His widow (1842 - 1926) applied for a pension 29 Apr 1922. Her paternal grandfather, Meredith H. WATKINS, was a also Confederate veteran, serving as the first Capt. of Co. D, 16th VA Infantry. He had served as 2nd Lt. in the militia since 1837.
