Roberts, 80 [sic; 81], Of Windsor Dies After Long Illness Mills Morgan Roberts, aged 80, prominent farmer of Isle of Wight County, living near Windsor, died Thursday at 6:30 o'clock after an illness of several months. He was a member of Windsor Christian Church and was for many years a deacon of the church and active in its work. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Bowden Roberts; a son, Oscar T. Roberts, of Harrington, Del.; a sister, Mrs. N.M. Johnson, of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Evelyn and Bob Roberts, of Harrington, Del. Mills Morgan ROBERTS, retired farmer, b. 18 Dec 1861, Isle of Wight Co., d. 21 Jan 1943, at home, near Windsor, interred in Windsor Cemetery*, 24 Jan 1943, "Smithfield (VA) Times," Vol. 25, No. 45, Thurs., Jan. 28, 1943, p. 1 *Additional information: Buried with his first wife, Annie M. His parents, Mills W. & Sarah A. (BUTLER) ROBERTS, are also buried there. Curiously, D.Cert. 1633 (Windsor #2) gives married, spouse of Annie ROBERTS; the informant was his son Oscar Terrell ROBERTS. Annie's D.Cert. 3500 (Windsor #6) gives spouse of Morgan M. ROBERTS; the informant was was not given. His widow, Bertha May (BOWDEN HAYES) ROBERTS 2m. Jesse Whitley HOLLAND. She is buried in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery, near Windsor. D, 16th VA Infantry - one of seven brothers in the unit, the Isle of Wight Grays. He was wounded 22 Jun 1864, at Petersburg, and paroled at Appomattox C.H.
