MAN OF SMITHFIELD, DIED SUNDAY AFTER HEART ATTACK FRI. Charles Hubert Rose, age 50, died at his home Sunday at 10 a.m. after a brief illness. He was the son of the late John R. and Elizabeth Vaughan Rose. He was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County; a prominent merchant in Smithfield. He was a member of the Wesley Bible Class of the Methodist Church and the oldest charter member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Duck Rose; one son, Charles H. Rose, Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. J.W. Vaughan of Portsmouth, Mrs. J.H. Griffin of Windsor; Mrs. Lillian Uzzell of Newport News; J.R. Rose of Walters and Frank L. Rose of Windsor, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were held in the Chapel of the Bullock Funeral Home at 3 o'clock Tuesday, conducted by Rev. R.E. Cardwell, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church in Smithfield and buried followed in Ivy Hill Cemetery.
