ROSE On Monday morning, August 29, 1927, John T. Rose, an honored and esteemed citizen of Isle of Wight County, died at his home near Franklin, Va., after an illness of about two years. He was born November 2, 1848. His first wife, Mrs. Henrietta Purvis Rose, preceded him to the grave about 25 years ago and he leaves a widow, Mrs. Lulu Charles Rose, whom he married about ten years ago, and eight children, Mrs. A.R. Butler and Mrs. S.V. Butler of Carrsville; Mrs. J.E. Heffington of Norfolk, Mrs. Richard Bryan of Lynchburg and J.R., J.C. Rose and Fenton Rose of Carrsville, and M.F. Rose of Norfolk. Two sons, Herbert and William, and one daughter, Nellie, preceded him a number of years ago. There are 40 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was an active and honored member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and was always ready and willing to do his share in all worthy causes. Funeral services were held at Beaver Dam Tuesday evening at 4 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G.R. Pankey and interment was made in the church cemetery amidst beautiful floral designs. The body bearers were: R.M. Crumpler, Elihu Lankford, Noah Brock, Harry Steinhardt, Roger I. Beale, Livy Griffin, Richard C. Barrick, Willie Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers: Jesse Lankford, Sydney Johnson, Jasper Daughtrey, Johnie Bradshaw, M.H. Moore, Lafayette Rawls, Walter Bryant, J.E. Vaughan, G.W. Vaughan, D.C. Bradshaw, C.H. Hayes, John McClenny, R.A. Peters, William Cutchins, J.E.T. Joyner, Goode Johnson, Jesse Johnson, J.T. Bradshaw, John Duck, Dr. C.J. Bradshaw, Dr. R.H. Cobb, James A. Johnson.
