Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Beaver Dam Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.H. Howell III, Danny Rose, A.R. Butler, John E. Rose, Jasper Daughtrey, Hunter Daughtrey, Jack Duke and Wilson Butler. Rose, 85, retired farmer, died suddenly Monday, May 12, 8:55 p.m. in his home. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Rosa Carson Rose and the son of John T. and Mrs. Henrietta Purvis Rose. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and its Men’s Bible Class. He was a charter member of the Carrsville of the Carrsville Ruritan Club. A member of local farm organizations, he was the recipient of the Star Farmer Award for Isle of Wight County in 1939. Besides his widow, he is survived by four daughters Miss Olivia Rose of Norfolk, Mrs. William H. Howell Jr. of Franklin, Mrs. DeWitt Wright, Mrs. Edward Kinney, two sons William H. Rose, and J.C. Rose Jr. of Carrsville; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie R. Butler, Carrsville, Mrs. Rebie R. Bryant, Lynchburg, and Mrs. Virgie R. Heffington of Virginia Beach, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
