All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN RANDOLPH ROSE John Randolph Rose, Sr., 59, of Walters, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital, Saturday afternoon, March 26, after a short illness. A life-long resident of Isle of Wight County, Mr. Rose had been employed by the St. Regis Paper Company for several years. He was a member of the Colosse Baptist Church and of Beech Camp No. 186, Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sybilla Bowden Rose; a daughter, Miss Mary Elizabeth Rose of Walters; four sons, John R. Rose, Jr. of Windsor, M.E. Rose of Suffolk, James R. Rose of Walters, and Vernon W. Rose of Zuni, three sisters, Mrs. Berta Vaughan of Portsmouth, Mrs. Lillian Uzzell of Norfolk, and Mrs. Maude Griffin of Windsor; a brother, Frank L. Rose of Windsor; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Colosse Baptist Church on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock by the pastor, Rev. Curtis L. Hoffman, assisted by Revs. J. Sidney Cobb, Ellis N. Clark and Frank L. Rose, Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. Woodmen services were held at the grave. Honorary pallbearers were members of Beech Camp No. 186, Woodmen of the World. Active pallbearers were Homer Breakiron, John H. Drewery, G.T. Johnson, Sherman Johnson, H.S. Lowe, Rossie Robertson, L.J. Sanford and Robert Simmons.
