He was a native of Isle of Wight County. He was the owner of Rose Electric Co. and was a retired farmer. He was a member, deacon, and belonged to the Board of Trustees of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He also belonged to its Men's Bible Class. He was a graduate of Carrsville High School and Hargrave Military Academy. Rose was a charter member of the Carrsville Ruritan Club, and first president and past master of Franklin Masonic Lodge 151 AF & AM. He was a member of Khedive Temple in Norfolk and the Suffolk and Franklin Shrine clubs. He was a past member of the board of Crestar Bank. He was chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service and a member of the Isle of Wight Public Service Authority. Survivors include his wife, Lydia Harrell Rose; two daughters, Joanne R. Willis of Dumfries and Mary R. Campbell of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Grace R. Brothers of Culpeper; and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Peerey. Burial with Masonic rites will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the church memorial fund.
