Rhoads [sic; Rhodes] Jr. NEWPORT NEWS - Elam Thomas Rhoads Jr., 54, of 15 Holloway Road, died Monday in Portsmouth General Hospital. He was a native of Surry County and was a dispatcher for Colony Realty Co. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and its 3-H Sunday School class. He belonged to the Handicaps Unlimited Club. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson Vocational School in Fisherville. He was the son of the late Elam Thomas & Mrs. Marie Holmes Rhoads. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Frances R. Swain of Windsor; and nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Jack Tesh. Burial will be in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of John J. Rhoads of Route 1, Windsor.
