Both the Baptist and Methodist ministers held their regular weekly meetings yesterday morning, and at both several visitors were present. At the former Professor F.W. Boatwright, of the Richmond College, made a statement as to the proposed new buildings to be erected at his college. The Rev. J.P. Essex, of Carrsville, stated that he preached the funeral of Mr. Elisha Rawls, aged 82 years, Sunday. Mr. Rawls was the oldest and one of the most influential members of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Isle of Wight county. In sixty-two years he only missed two church conferences, these being during his last illness. The Rev. Dr. Alex. G. Brown, presiding elder of the Norfolk district; the Rev. Joseph H. Amiss, presiding elder of the Rappahannock district, and the Rev. V.W. Bargamin, of Churchland, were the visitors at the meeting of Methodist preachers. Several interesting reports were received, and the feature of the session was a general discussion of the Twentieth Century Educational Movement.
