Joseph L. McTeer and the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery with W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Melvin Spivey, Curtis Rhodes, B.F. Dixon, William Taylor, J.P. Carr, Dr. Clem C. Crossland, William Rose and John F. Duke Jr. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Carrsville and Walters Ruritan Clubs. Spivey, 48, died Saturday morning in a Franklin Hospital. A native of Windsor, he was a son of Elan [sic; Elam*] N. and Mrs. Mary Babb Spivey and the husband of Mrs. Christian [sic; Christine*] Miles Spivey. He was a deacon of Colosse Baptist Church and a member of Ruritan Club and Woodmen of the World Lodge 186. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maurice Rhodes and Miss Melanie Spivey, Carrsville; a son, Everette T. Spivey of Carrsville; two brothers, Hurley Spivey of Richmond, and Grafton Spivey of Windsor; two sisters, Mrs. Elanor Howell of Smithfield, and Mrs. Guthrie Ballard of Windsor; and a grandchild.
