SPIVEY RITES AT COLOSSE CHURCH 

   Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie D. Spivey, of the Colosse community, who 
died Wednesday night were held this afternoon at the Colosse Baptist Church. 

   The Rev. Rufus Corbitt conducted the services and burial was in the church 
cemetery. 

   Survivors include her husband; two step-sons, A.L. and A.J. Spivey, of 
Windsor; a step-daughter, Mrs. John T. Spivey, of Windsor; one brother, Hardy 
Darden, of Carrsville; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

   Mrs. Spivey was the daughter of the late James and Malinda Ashburn Darden 
of Isle of Wight County.  She had been a resident of the county her entire 
life and took an active part in the [torn] 
of the Colosse Baptist Ch[torn]

The obit ("Tidewater News," May 26, 1966, p. 6) for her stepdaughter 
   Ethel H. (SPIVEY; Mrs. John T.) SPIVEY, gives her parents as 
   Charles E. and Nancy Butler Spivey; file at:

Ethel's mother is likely identical with Nancy A. (Mrs. C.E.) SPIVEY, 
   d. 15 Dec 1904, age 37, bd. at Collosse.

   (1862-1923) spells their mother's name Elenda. 

Nannie's mother is given incorrectly in the text of the obit.
