A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sarah Carr Spivey. He was a retired farmer and the oldest member of Colosse Baptist Church and member of its Adult Bible Class. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Spivey Lowe of Walters; two sons, John R. Spivey and B.C. Spivey of Windsor; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Malie Hinnant. Burial will be in Colosse Church Cemetery.
