SCOTT JAMES W. FRYE Carrsville, Va. Marion, Va. SUPREME SACRIFICE BY TWO VIRGINIA BOYS Charles L. Scott and James W. Frye Killed In France Two more Virginia boys are reported having made the supreme sacrifice, having been killed in action in France during the month of October, and their names are added to the honor roll of heroes. One of them is Charles L. Scott, of Carrsville, Va., and the other is James W. Frye, of Marion, Va., both of whom have relatives and friends in Norfolk. James W. Frye was the son of Mr. and Mrs. N.L. Frye, of Marion. He was killed in action on October 1, according to an announcement received by his father from Washington, D.C. Mrs. T.M. Wallace, 1825 Lindsay avenue, Norfolk, is an aunt of the young hero. He left Norfolk as a member of Co. F, infantry. Charles L. Scott, of Carrsville, was also in Norfolk before going overseas. The date of his death has not been definitely determined, but it occurred during the fiercest of the fighting in October. ****************************************************************************** PERSONAL ITEMS AND NEWS OF CARRSVILLE Body of World War Hero Buried Here The body of Luther Scott, the only Carrsville boy who was killed in France, during the late war, was brought here Saturday morning on the S.A.L. train. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Beaver Dam Church, of which he was a member, conducted by Rev. A.W.H. Jones of Colosse. He was buried with military honors in the church cemetery. His father James Urquhart SCOTT (ca. 1850 -1917) is also buried there (BD-70), apparently unmarked. An historical sketch of Beaver Dam Baptist Church ("Smithfield Times, Mar. 21, 1929, Sect. II, pp. 4-5) states he was woulded in the Battle of the Argonne and died in the hospital.
