SCOTT, 79, BURIED SEPT. 9 AT UZZELL'S CHURCH Edward Herman Scott, 79, prominent Isle of Wight County farmer died early Wednesday morning, September 7, 1960, in the Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, after a short illness. He was a member of Uzzell's Methodist Church and of its Board of Stewards, Board of Trustees and the Men's Bible Class. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of Edward W. and Mrs. Frances Horne Scott. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. G.J. Lewis of Waverly and Mrs. Arthur Nappler of Smithfield; four sons, J. Herman Scott, Carrey C. Scott and Rae G. Scott of Smithfield and T. Sgt. Edward R. Scott, U.S.A.F., Paris, France; two brothers, C.P. Scott, of Portsmouth, and J.S. Scott of Smithfield; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Driver of Rescue; Mrs. L.L. Hart of Fredericksburg and Mrs. George Crumpler, Mrs. Alice B. Garner and Mrs. R.R. Edwards of Smithfield; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted at Uzzell's Methodist Church Friday, September 9 at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. R.C. Black, pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John Godwin, Paul Godwin, Ralph Godwin, Sr., William F. Darden, Henley T. Manning and Bernard Gale. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Men's Bible Class of Uzzell's Church.
