Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the W.J.M. Holland Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr., pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and the Rev. Harold W. Tribble, pastor of Hunterdale Christian Church. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Julian P. Whitley, 311 Grove Ave., Franklin. She was the widow of Herbert Hudson Scott and daughter of the late Frank C. and Sallie Tyler Gardner* of Nansemond County and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Julian P. Whitley and Mrs. J.G. Joyner Jr. of Franklin, a half sister, Mrs. Martha G. Darden of Holland; three half brothers, George E. Gardner of Newport News and C.L. Gardner and W.U. Gardner of Holland. Lillie Rebecca (GARDNER; Mrs. Herbert H.)
