William Stephens, died early Sunday morning, February 10 at her home near Walters after an illness of several years. A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Martha Ann Thorne Hines of Isle of Wight county, and a member of Colosse Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, J. Stephens of Carrsville, J.W. Stephens of Walters and F.A. Stephens of Burdette; four daughters, Mrs. Homer B. Powell and Mrs. Presley Carr, both of Zuni, Mrs. O.C. Carr of Walters and Mrs. Curtis Rhodes of Carrsville; two brothers, Ernest R. Hines and S.A. Hines of Zuni; 12 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. Curtis Hoffman, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. H.G. Crutchfield, pastor of Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church, and Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial was in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were J.L. Rose, Edward Lankford, J.P. Carr, Melvin Spivey, Willie Carr, J.C. Turner, Wilson Rhodes and Parker J. Austin. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers Mary Jennie (HINES; Mrs. D.
