WALTER STOTT DIES AT HOME HERE The funeral services for Mrs. J. Walter Scott were conducted Friday, March 1, at Smithfield Baptist Church by the Rev. L.F. Paulette, Pastor of the church. Interment was in Ivy Hill Cemetery. The favorite hymns of Mrs. Stott's were sung, "Abide With Me" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Special request for Mr. George F. Whitley to sing, "Face to Face". This selection he sang at Mrs. Stott's mother's funeral many years ago. The floral offering was large and very beautiful. The active pallbearers were Wharton Holland, Henry West, Marshall Hart, Henley Chapman, Gray Vellines, Willie Holmes Chapman, Truitt Chapman and Arthur Ballard; honorary, D.J. Mood, C.S. Betts, A.E.S. Stephens, John I. Cofer, John I. Caulke, J.R. Rowell, Dr. Hugh Warren, T.C. Patterson, T.A. Dashiells, Whitney Godwin, R.A. Edwards and P.D. Gwaltney, 3d. Mrs. Stott died February 28, after an illness of three months. She was the daughter of the late Merritt Davis and Mary Virginia Davis, and was born in Isle of Wight County, Va., in 1862. She is survived by her husband, J. Walter Stott; three children, Carlyle Stott, of New York City, George Ben. Stott, of Suffolk and Mrs. Arthur Gallop, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two grandsons, Thomas Stott and George Ben. Stott, Jr.; one niece, Mrs. Henley Chapman, of Smithfield. She was a consistent member of the Baptist Church, member of the Woman's Club and Daughters of Confederacy. Mrs. Stott was a woman of unusual qualities and greatly beloved and esteemed by all that knew her. The passing of our friend will be a great loss to the community. Mary Lee (DAVIS; Mrs. J.
