WILLIAM P. STRINGFIELD 

  William L. [sic; P.] Stringfield, 18, of this county was drowned on the 
Macclefield farm Saturday afternoon, last.  Stringfield jumped into the 
water with all clothes on, just as if he were going swimming in this 
fashion.  It seems that he did not know how to swim and after going down 
once, never reappeared.  His body was recovered Saturday night about 8 
o'clock within five feet of the place where he went down.  No one has 
been able to account for his strange action, there being no known reason 
for his wishing to commit suicide.

  Funeral services were held at Central Hill Church, Sunday afternoon at 
4 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. N.F. Jacobs in charge.
