Cary Holt Thacker Buried Dec. 5th At Old St. Luke's 

  Cary Holt Thacker, 66, died at his home near Smithfield Saturday night, 
December 2, 1961. 

  He was a son of the late James Allen Thacker and Annie Jones Thacker of 
Surry County. 

  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gladys Carr Thacker; two daughters, Mrs. 
Dorothy Thacker Carr of Smithfield and Mrs. Girlie Thacker Williams of 
Gloucester County; a son, Herman W. Thacker of Vancouver, Washington; a 
sister, Mrs. Daisy Ricks of Chesterfield; a brother, L.C. Thacker of 
Smithfield; four stepchildren, Mrs. Frances Griffin, Mrs. Thelma Scott, 
John Jenkins, and Cecil Jenkins, of Smithfield; and seven grandchildren. 

  The body was taken to the Jones Funeral Home. 

  A funeral service was held at Tuesday, December 5 at 2 P.M. in his home 
on Route 1, Smithfield conducted by the Rev. James E. Hodges and Rev. Otis 
L. Gilliam. 

  Burial was in Old St. Luke's Cemetery. 

  Pallbearers were Judge Thacker, Lee Thacker, Leslie Wade Thacker, James 
Thacker, James Palmore Jr., Raymond Thacker, Shelton Thacker and Crouch 
Thacker.
