All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY ELIZA TODD Miss Mary Eliza Todd, one of the most prominent women of Tidewater Virginia, and member of an old distinguished family of Isle of Wight County, died Saturday morning at 7 o'clock, at the old Todd home, "The Hill," in Smithfield. She was the daughter of the late Everarel [sic*] Moore and Nannie Robinson Southall Todd, and is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Willis M. Morris, of Surry County; Miss Dinah M. Todd and Mrs. Tazewell T. Spratley of Smithfield. Funeral services were held at Christ Church, Smithfield, Sunday at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. William A. Brayshaw, rector of Christ Church assisted by R.R. Phelps of Ohio. Burial was in Old St. Luke's Cemetery, in the family lot. Active pallbearers were: R.A. Cox, James Cox, W.J. Briggs, John I. Cofer, Jr., Waverly Thomas, Jack Chapman, Jr., Lacy Brayshaw, Dr. Rea Parker. A choir sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "The Strife Is Over."
