Mr. Taylor, a Rose Hill native, retired as a superintendent of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation, Smithfield Division. He was a member and former deacon of Mount Carmel Christian Church, Walters. He was a past president of Walters Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Boyett Taylor; a daughter, Teresa T. Clifford of Windsor; a son, John A. "Tony" Taylor of Windsor; his father, William F. Taylor of Suffolk; a sister, Thelma T. Ray of Rose Hill; two brothers, Paul E. Taylor Sr. of Rose Hill and Bill E. Taylor of Dayton, Ohio; and a grandson. The funeral was conducted Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin by the Rev. Robert J. Bennett. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. Memorial donations may be made to the church’s organ fund, Route 1, Box 304, Walters.
