Jesse Elisha [sic; Elias] Thorne Succumbs at Windsor 

  FRANKLIN - Jesse Elisha Thorne, 63, well known retired farmer of the Windsor 
community died unxpectedly yesterday morning of a heart attack in the post 
office building where he was employed about a month ago. 

  Thorne was the son of the late Thomas and Ida Bowden Thorne of Isle of Wight 
County.  He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. 

  He is survived by his wife, Emma Turner Thorne of Windsor; one son, Jesse 
Leonard Thorne of Windsor, and a daughter, Mrs. Ida Joyner of Zuni; two 
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Jones and Mrs. Wesley Everett of 
Smithfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

  The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in Franklin. 
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at the Antioch Christian Church by 
Rev. Ellis Clark and Rev. Jeff Monroe.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Jesse E. Thorne, 63, Buried June 10 In Antioch Cemetery 

  Jesse Elias Thorne, 63, retired farmer of the Windsor community, died June 
8, 1955, of a heart attack in the Postoffice building where he was employed 
about a month ago. 

  Mr. Thorne was the son of the late Thomas and Ida Bowden Thorne of Isle of 
Wight County, and was the husband of Mrs. Emma Turner Thorne, of Windsor.  He 
was a member of Antioch Christian Church. 

  Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Jesse Leonard Thorne, Windsor, 
and one daughter, Mrs. Ida Joyner of Zuni; two grandchildren; two sisters, 
Mrs. Doris Jones and Mrs. Wesley Everett, both of Smithfield; and a number of 
nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services were held Friday at 3 o'clock at the Antioch Christian 
Church, conducted by Rev. Ellis Clark and the Rev. Jeff Monroe.  Burial was 
in the church cemetery.
