JACOB ALLEN TURNER

   Jacob Allen (Tint) Turner, 81 year-old farmer of the Walters community, 
died Friday, May 21, after an illness of several months.  Funeral services 
were held at Colosse Baptist Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Curtis 
Hoffman, pastor, the Rev. Beecher Rhodes of Norfolk, the Rev. Jack Boyles of 
Richmond, and the Rev. T.T. Traynham of Franklin officiating.  Burial followed 
in the church cemetery.

   Active pallbearers were Keenie Rhodes, R.L. Turner, Shelby Rhodes, Robert 
Simmons, Dr. Ivan Steele, Sherman Johnson, Randolph Rose, and Stanley Lowe.

   Mr. Turner was the son of other late Jacob and Martha Bowden Turner of Isle 
of Wight county.  He was a member of the Colosse Baptist Church, the men’s 
Bible class, and was a charter member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge Beech 
Camp 186.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florida Bowden Turner, of Walters; three 
sons, Sgt. J. Letcher Turner, Fort Knox, Ky., and Raby B. and Eldridge E. 
Turner, both of Zuni; three daughters, Mrs. John Henry Carr, of Carrsville, 
Mrs. Floyd A. Carr, of Carrsville, Mrs. Floyd A. Carr of Suffolk and Mrs. 
Arthur Harrell of Norfolk; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, 
and a number of nieces and nephews.
