Rev. Brian Tiffany officiated. Burial with Masonic rites was held in Central Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. Morrison Butler, E. Roland Lewis, William Uzzell, J. Herman Bowden, Harvey Crocker, Walter Joyner, T.M. Carr Jr. and Lawrence B. Carr. Turner, 86, died July 23 at Patrick Henry Hospital after a long illness. He was a member of Isle of Wight County, member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Woodmen of the World and Blackwater Masonic Lodge 134. He was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife Rosa Carr of Zuni; three sons, D. Alfred Turner, Newport News, Richard J. Turner Jr., Hampton and Earnest E. Turner, Ivor; two daughters Mrs. Edgar C. Barrett, Hampton, Mrs. J.C. Johnson Jr., Newport News; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
