MOLLIE SPAIN TURNER Mrs. Mollie Spain Turner, 73, a well-known resident of Windsor, died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Whitley, on Tuesday afternoon, February 13. Her death was due to a heart attack. She was the daughter of the late W.E. and Rebecca Hill Spain of Dinwiddie County, and was a member of the Windsor Methodist Church. Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, John H. Turner of Windsor; two daughters, Mrs. J.A. Whitley of Windsor and Mrs. Corbitt Nurney of Smithfield; two sons, Edward D. Turner of Smithfield and John W. Turner of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.W. Spain of Drewryville and C.S. Spain of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. R.A. Simmons of Courtland and Mrs. Lena Spain of Homeville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Last rites for Mrs. Turner were conducted at the grave in the Windsor cemetery on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. R.H. Shapland, assisted by Rev. R.E. Brittle. The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased; Robert Simmons, Howard Spain, Luther Spain, Richard Spain, Charles Turner, Emmett Whitley, James Whitley and John H. Funeral services were held at the grave in Windsor Cemetery Thursday afternoon with the Rev. R.H. Shapland and the Rev. B.A. Riddle officiating.
