   THOS. TURNER DROPPED DEAD. 
            ________ 

Was a Well-Known Resident of Isle of Wight County. 

  SMITHFIELD, VA., Feb. 24.-(Special.)- The funeral of Mr. Thomas Turner 
took place Saturday at his residence about eight miles from Smithfield at 
2 o'clock, and he was buried at Ivy Hill Cemetery.

   Mr. Turner died very suddenly.  He was being helped on with his overcoat 
preparing to go to Richmond, when he dropped dead.

   The deceased was a brother to Mr. Dick Turner, who died very suddenly a 
few months ago.  He was also a brother of Mr. R*. Beverly Turner, who was 
shot and killed by Nick Gilligan, a little over a year ago.

**Cemetery list gives "C.W. Marker" and of a likely age, but he does not 
   appear on the lists of Confederate veterans in "Historical Notes on 
   Isle of WIght County, Virginia."
