SMITHFIELD - William Robert Turner Sr., 82 died in a Peninsula hospital Monday morning after a short illness. He was a retired merchant and farmer of Carrollton and a native of Windsor. He was a son of James Madison and Mrs. Adminta Oliver Turner. He was a member of Benns Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ivey Johnson Turner; two sons, J. Edwin Turner Sr. and William Robert Turner, Jr.; and two daughters, Mrs. Lois T. Clark and Mrs. Genevieve T. Frost, all of Carrollton; a brother, Richard T. Turner of Windsor; a sister, Mrs. Annie Johnson of Myrtle; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bullock Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert E. Abbott of Benns Methodist Church. Burial was in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery.
