TURNER Funeral services for William Henry Turner, 56, who died at his home, 1146 Twenty-seventh street, Newport News, at 4 Wednesday morning, were held at 2:30 pm Friday at the Carder Funeral home, 2606 West avenue. The Rev. Walter C. Scott, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist church conducted the service, and burial followed in Greenlawn cemetery. Mr. Turner had been ill 22 months. He was a native of Isle of Wight county, and had been a resident of Newport News 20 years. He was an employee of the Newport News shipyard for a number of years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elma Darden Turner; 10 children, Henry Turner of Portsmouth, Mrs. M.M. Harvey of San Antonio, Texas, William L. Turner of Baltimore, Miss Anna May Turner, J. R. Turner, Helen Louise Turner, Berdie C. Turner, Rita Virginia Turner, Thomas Turner and Elmer D. Turner, all of Newport News; two brothers, L.A. Turner of Portsmouth and V.L. Turner of Chuckatuck; one sister, Mrs. W.G. Spady of Newport News; two grandchildren, five half-brothers and three half-sisters.
