Rev. T. Fred Wright officiated. The pall was of pink gladioli. Active pallbearers were J. Thorn, Goode Joyner, Charlie Saunders, C.B. Joyner, J.E. Britt, E.M. Luter, J.R. Joyner and Stanley Uzzell. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Ester V. Uzzell Died Feb. 3rd Mrs. Ester Virginia Uzzell, wife of Jesse A. Uzzell, died at her residence in Nansemond County, February 3rd, after a short illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Barbara Uzzell; three sons, Amos, Jesse and Floyd Uzzell; her mother, Mrs. Evelyn Brown of West Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Katie Pond of Smithfield; a brother Bob Warren and a half-brother Emmett Wise both of Smithfield; and several uncles and aunts. Esther & Jesse m. 20 Mar 1933 Smithfield. M.Cert. (IoW.Co. #16) gives daughter of Charlie WISE & Alma BRYANT. Jesse was struck by a train 13 Feb 1951 in Suffolk. (IWCHS GSSTF report #55) Emmett's D.Cert. 1961-2275 gives his father as Emmett William WISE. Their half-bro "Bob" John Robert WARREN's D.Cert. 78-005793 gives his parents as John WARREN & Evelyn BROWN. He is buried at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Benn's Church.
