LETCHER T. UZZELL SR. 

  NEWPORT NEWS - Letcher Thomas Uzzell Sr., 70, of 221 Pear Ave. died Saturday 
night in Riverside Hospital after a brief illness. 

  A native of Isle of Wight County, he lived here 25 years.  He was a member 
of First United Church of Christ and the Retired Men’s Club. 

  He was the husband of Mrs. Ruth Uzzell and a son of Ocie and Mrs. Clara 
Uzzell. 

  Besides his widow, surviving are son, Letcher Thomas Uzzell Jr., of Newport 
News; two sisters, George Hargrave of Isle of Wight County and Mrs. Percy Rife 
of Smithfield; two brothers, Melvin Uzzell of Surry County and Jack Uzzell of 
Washington and two grandchildren.  A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. 
Monday (today) at First United Church of Christ by the Rev. Carl E. Wallace. 
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery with Peninsula Funeral Home in charge.
