He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 14, 1910 and was a son of the late Rudyard Stephen and Mary Blaine Uzzell. Mr. Uzzell retired from Sperry Marine in Great Neck, N.Y. where he was an Electronics Technician. He was a charter member of All Saints Anglican Church, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Radio Club. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothea Thompson Uzzell of Charlottesville; one daughter, Laura Cowan Uzzell Logie of Front Royal; one son, Lawrence Albert Uzzell of Moscow, Russia and Washington, D. C.; one brother, Rudyard S. Uzzell Jr. of Bryn Mawr, Fla.; and two grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday in All Saints Anglican Church, Route 250 West, by Father Glenn Spencer. Interment followed at 4 p.m. in the Uzzell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Smithfield, with Bishop Norman Stewart officiating. Teague Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. His membership in the Sons of the American Revolution was based on descent from his mother's great-great-great-grandfather, VA militia Capt. John MAXWELL (b. Scotland, d. 18 Jan 1814, Girard Co., KY).
