MATTIE BABB UMPHLETTE

   Waverly - Mrs. Mattie Babb Umphlette, 85, died Tuesday in a hospital.

   A native of Windsor, she was the widow of Roscoe Umphlette and a daughter of 
the late Jesse J. and Maggie Darden Babb.

   She was a member of the Collossee* Baptist Church.

   She leaves a son, Joseph C. Umphlette of Portsmouth; a brother, B.A. Babb of 
Windsor; four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

   Services are to be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Donald E. Trump and the Rev. Riddick Pierce officiating. Burial 
will be in the Collossee Baptist Church Cemetery.

   The family will be at the home of Robert Lee Umphlette in Windsor.
