LEROY L. VELLINES 

  Leroy L. Vellines, 72, widely known throughout Isle of Wight County and 
this section died Tuesday at the Riverside Hospital in Newport News.  Funeral 
services were held at the grave in St. Luke's Memorial Park, at the Old Brick 
Church on the Smithfield highway Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

  Mr. Vellines is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bettie M. Vellines and the 
following children, Mrs. T.C. Patterson of Newport News; Mrs. T.A. Dashields 
of Suffolk; E. Gray Vellines of Newport News; two grandchildren, Minette and 
Ashley Dashields of Suffolk; a brother R. D. Vellines, of Newport News.  Mr. 
Vellines was paralyzed two weeks ago at his home near Smithfield.  The 
services at the grave Wednesday were conducted by the Rev. C.C. Bell.
