McKay, of the Mill Swamp Baptist Church, at the home of the deceased. "Through the Gates of Gold" was sung by two members of Mill Swamp Church, of which Mr. Webb has attended regularly for the past few years. The burial service was held at Antioch Christian Church, of which he was a member, by Rev. McKay, Rev. Elisha Bradshaw, of Mt. Carmel Church, and Rev. E.B. White, of Antioch Christian Church, where the remains were laid to rest. Mr. S. [sic; Mrs.] H. E. Pierce sang "Life’s Railway to Heaven" during the service. There were many and beautiful floral tributes. Many were gathered there to pay their last respect to the deceased. He was a good and worthwhile neighbor and a loving and gentle husband and father. The Christian Endeavor of the Windsor Christian church held its regular meeting Sunday evening at 6:30. After the regular routine of business the following program was given by the intermediates: Song by the society; Scripture reading by Miss Myrtle Seward Holland; recitations, "It Pays," Francis, Leona and C.A. Bracey, and Richard Holland; reading by Jean Whitley; song, society; reading, Shirley Holland; talk by Rev. C.E. Smith of Elon, N.C. After which an offering was taken. The meeting was closed by Rev. E.B. White. Misses Dorothy Pierce and Martha Gwaltney will direct the program for next Sunday evening. Preaching service was held at Windsor Christian Church Sunday evening at 7:45. The Isle of Wight quartette, composed of Mrs. Homer Whitley, Mrs. Marian Hall, Messrs. Turpin Whitley and Johnnie Roberts, accompanied by Mrs. M.T. Whitley, gave a special selection. Rev. E.C. Smith preached and delivered a very interesting sermon, to an unusually large audience for that church. [...] Many from this vicinity attended the funeral and burial services of Mr. Guy Webb Sunday afternoon. [...] The many friends of Mr. Jonie [sic; Johnny] Edwards were glad to see that he was able to sit in a car and attend the burial service of Mr. Webb. ****************************************************************************** G. L. WEBB G.L. Webb of Isle of Wight Co. died suddenly Saturday. Mr. Webb was about 55 years of age. Many sportsmen were acquainted with him through hunts on his farm. He is survived by is widow, formerly Miss Iola Barrett; six children; brothers - Frank L. Webb, Richmond; James D. Webb, Greenville, Texas; Walton Webb, Petersburg; N.J. Webb, Newport News and Reeves D. Webb, Washington; and five sisters, Mrs. A.S. Young and Mrs. T.J. Young, both of Disputanta; Mrs. S.W. Jones of Isle of Wight County; Mrs. M.W. Jones, of Disputanta; and Mrs. Holmes Copeland of Suffolk.
