MARY ELIZABETH LANKFORD WEST 

Mrs. W.H. West, 82  Buried Dec. 27 At Beaver Dam 

  Mrs. Mary E. (Betty) West, 82, widow of William Henry West, and daughter of 
Jesse and Louise Bracey [sic*], died December 27, 1954, at 4 P.M. at the home 
of her daughter Mrs. Leon F. Chapman after a long illness. 

  Besides her daughter she is survived by five sons, W.T. West, of Suffolk; 
E.H., J.L., J.E., and J.W. West, all of Smithfield; Gladys Jenkins Thacker and 
Lawson Carr, whom she reared; a sister, Mrs. J.R. Howell of Franklin; two 
brothers, Jesse Lankford of Smithfield, and Tom Lankford of Carrsville; 13 
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services were held December 29 at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 
near Franklin, conducted by Dr. R. Furman Kenney, pastor Smithfield Baptist 
Church, the Rev. E.C. Thorton, pastor of Beaver Dam Church and the Rev. L.L. 
Hazelwood. 

  Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, L.F. Chapman, Thomas West, 
Raymond West, Randolph West, Eugene West and John Jenkins.
