Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bullock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield. A native of Elizabeth City County, he had lived in Rescue for the past 59 years. He was the son of the late John W. and Mrs. Fannie Presson Watkins of Elizabeth City County. He was a World War I veteran and was a member of the disabled American Veterans organization, the 4th Division Organization and the George F. Dashiell American [Legion] Post No. 49. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Barham Watkins of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Schaefer and Mrs. Fannie Pearl Lemon of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, Cecil R. Watkins of Rescue.
